iPad and ebooks.

By now we all know what ebooks are, so there is no need for me to explain them.  Same thing with the iPad, we know what it is, but did you also know its a Kindel or any other ebook reader killer!  I will tell you why, cause this thing has an App for anything.  I have had the privilege to use a few of these newer readers, even Barnes and Nobels new one, they are all kinda plain.  And plain is an over statement!  For about 150$ more you can get an iPad, that just does so much more.  First of all, there are already a ton of Apps, and quite a few of them are free.  Not to get too far off the subject, here are a few of the programs that I have found turn the iPad into an all in one Ebook reader.

First off, you can find plenty of PDF readers in the app store, but my favorite one and it also happens to be the most versatile is GoodReader.

  • MS Office – .doc, .ppt, .xls and more
  • iWork’08/’09
  • HTML and Safari webarchives
  • High resolution images
  • It even does audio and video!

The GoodReader can pretty much handle every kind of text document as well as view pictures and play music. Its is cheap as well at only .99 cents. One of the features I like best about this program is that you can upload files directly from your computer via wi-fi or through an online client like DropBox,

  • Access your Dropbox on the go

All the contents of your Dropbox are available for viewing. You can even stream music and movies in your Dropbox straight to your iPad.

  • Upload files and sync them to your Dropbox

Upload photos from your iPad and email its public link to a friend in less than a minute.

  • Share links to files in your Dropbox

Yes! Any file in your Dropbox!

which gives you 2gb of free file storage you can share with anyone.

Another great free App is BookMan, who also happens to be a wordpresser!  Anyways, the reason I also have this book reader is that it can read two file types that the GoodReader can’t.

Here are some of its features:

  • Fast rendering engine with smart loading system.
  • Quickly show thumbnails of entire document.
  • Support large PDF format over 100MB, and ZIP/CBZ containing image files.
  • High-speed transfer your PDF files to iPad from iTunes using the File Sharing.

One of the odd files you see is CBZ or CBR, unless you are a comic book reader this format id foreign to you.  More info can be found here, but basically is the format that comic book readers use to view their comic Ebooks so to say.

So whether your into reading comic books, browsing through magazines and digging deep into a good novel or some book for dummy’s. With these Apps and a Dropbox Add on, you can open a whole new world of reading material for about 150 more than the best ebook readers on the market.  Get an iPad!

IPad and sitting

Boy I wish my iPad was sauna proof! I bet I could sit all day in there and just get nothing done. I have found many positions that the iPad beats a laptop, as far as comfort. For one, sitting on the toilet and trying to type is next to impossible, and trying to surf the Internet laying down is tough too. You can’t turn the screen in a visible angle and have it in a position you can scroll and or type like yup can on the iPad. But best of all, you don’t have a hot laptop burning your legs while you try and position the screen in a comfortable position to do your catching up.

Another thing about this ipad thing is how many of the apps are integrated with each other. For example, you only need one contact list, period. All of the apps including the various email apps I use draw from the ipads main contact list. So when you need to email someone, you just click email and select them. Super easy.

Anyways time to get out of here and get the kids ready for bed, I think I am gonna put this down and get my fat ass to the gym tonight.

Modesto Rugby Tie from Zazzle.com.

Its time for us to start repping the team on and off the field.  One way to do so is to start looking alittle more representable.  We need to start thinking about getting team blazers and ties.  Here is a start.

IPad App test dictation!

•May 23, 2010 • Leave a Comment

This is my first attempt at blogging through my iPad using the free app called Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I found this app just by doing a search on Google see if they had any dictation software and came across this one. I also wanted to see how well it would recognize my voice and I will not be doing any type of editing to what it dictates just so you can see how well it works.
Even though the keypad here on the iPad screen works pretty well I am a like a speed that this program records up and dictate this pretty quick. I think this sentence alone for a run on sentence alone took me about what 15 seconds to speak and it sorted I’m typing
Call ready I found a few errors probably because I mumble but for the most part I’m looking at the paragraph you are not looking pretty good summary go ahead and just end this and send this to my WordPress blog by sending an e-mail I will talk to you later have a good week I’m off to camping.

“T” it is kinda Taboo.

The “T” I am talking about is Testosterone.  Testosterone is an important hormone made by the body. In an adult male it helps maintain:

  • Sex drive and sexual function
  • Muscle mass and strength
  • Mood and energy levels
  • Bone strength
  • Other

Who wouldn’t want these effects on them from steroid treatment to raise their levels of “T”.  I mean if people are allowed to augment their body’s with silicone or face lifts and what ever else lifts, why is it such a big deal.  Steroids have such a bad stigma, but the fact is every one has used a form of steroid in one form or another.  Most Asthma inhalers are a type, I mean if you want to see how common they are used in everyday products go to the IOC’s website and look at their list of banned substances. I dont condone the use of steroids to anyone, especially teenagers, but why paint Steroids as a monster and then try to sell it to the elderly as product under the name LOW T???

I think its funny the very age group that they target for this treatment happens to be the age group that the majority of our law makers.  The same people who point their fingers at the Athletes of today and punish them are also using the product that they are condemning.  Isn’t that stupid?
